Final Declaration
Third regular meeting of the ENP Legislative Council Addis Ababa, 23-28 of
December 2007 On 28 December, the council culminated its third regular meeting
which was held for four days under the current critical period in which the
Eritrean people is suffering all kinds of injustice and lack of security and
peace under the grip of the dictatorial regime that enjoys torturing and
humiliating the Eritrean people. All these activities of dictatorship have
caused the deterioration of all aspects of social life. The situation has also
worsened due to the political marginalization and abduction of political
figures, which have become familiar phenomena for the Eritrean people. Due to
the current misery inflicted on the Eritrean people by the regime, it has become
the dream of the Eritrean people to flee the large prison called Eritrea to the
unknown regardless of the risks hardship of emigration and death to which they
expose themselves. It is a natural consequence under such a miserable condition
that the country experience political agitations and its people face a dangerous
critical historical moment due to the irresponsible polices of the regime which
have subjected the country to regional and international isolation. As a result,
it is the responsibility of the National Eritrean Opposition parties to unify
sacrificing all the small individual interests for the sake of the supreme goal
of rescuing Eritrea and its people form the cruel grip of the inhuman
dictatorial regime forever. The council has also greatly appreciated the party's
decision of withdrawing its membership form the Eritrean Democratic Alliance
last February and playing its historical role in resolving conflicts and
misunderstandings between the two blocks. The council negotiated and thoroughly
studied the reports submitted by the Chairman's office. The studies included the
external relations, information and civil organizations, and found solutions for
the obstacles that confronted the executive body. The council also approved the
plans forwarded by the Chairman's office and laid down the following points for
the year 2008: Approved the future work plans for the executive office. Approved
the new executive office members. Approved the general budget for the year 2008.
Approved the extension of the period of the Legislative Council until the end of
the year 2008. Affirmed the importance of the role of women in the party.
Affirmed the importance of the role of the youth in the party. Work for
strengthening relations with all the Eritrean opposition parties in all fields.
Affirmed that democracy base on consultancy and transparency is necessity in all
organs of the party. Hopes that the (EDA) opposition organizations meeting,
which is going to be held in January 15, would be up to the responsibility of
gathering the Eritrean opposition under a single umbrella of national
reconciliation body. At the end, the council greets the Eritrean people any
where in the world and demand all Eritreans to continue their struggle and
opposition to over throw the oppressive regime and thanks all the friendly and
cooperative countries as well as the media associations, the human rights
organizations the NGOs and the organizations of civic societies, for all the
support granted for the Eritrean National opposition and the Eritrean people in
their struggle to overcome the current misery in Eritrea. Victory for the
Eritrean People! ENP Legislative Council 28 December 2007
